Matthew 16:17-19 New International Version (NIV) 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.”
For a long time, we have fondly thought of worship as songs we sing in a Sunday service.
Worship demands more of us; it is a lifestyle that reflects God’s heart and love.
Worship is more than something we do; it is the motivation (heart
attitude) that colours our thoughts and directs our actions.
More
than just a quick hello after a meeting with a cup of tea in your hand and a
list of people to see, fellowship takes time and energy and is about building a relationship with our fellow brothers and sisters. It is the basis on which
church is formed and people are cared for. We can do nothing on our own for
very long.
We all have something we love doing and can do well.
As we use our gifts and skills to help the local church grow and develop, this is our service.
The model of the church in the New Testament is of a body of people who are willing to use their gifts to serve each other and build community.
God has asked us to do one simple thing: tell people how he has changed our lives and that He can change theirs.
He needs us to get excited about sharing this
life with our neighbours; most people don’t realise the incredible benefits of
knowing Jesus, it’s up to us to show them.
The
Christian life is a constant journey of growth. We need to learn as we grow; to
discuss and question ideas and Scriptures. This is a part of discipleship. It
gives us a firm foundation on which we can build faith so that when we are
tested, we are sure of who we are in God. Accountability, biblical teaching and
the ability to think are essential!
We believe in the Word of God as a living dynamic shaping our lives
together and guiding the way we live out His calling in the context of our
lives in Millom. Studying the Word forms a key part of how we seek to live a
life in line with God’s will and ways. Meditation on God’s word produces
revelation, Revelation produces motivation, Motivation produces action, Action
produces fruit. Let us meditate on this vision letter.
Is our powerhouse for living,
our direct line with God. It is a communication process that allows us to talk
to God! He wants us to communicate with Him, like a person-to-person phone
call. We believe that prayer is a key to a deep relationship with God. and is
essential for Christian ministry.
Qualifications for Overseers and Deacons
3 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

To Build a Contemporary Community Church in
which we are a strong heartbeat in our community - where God is Famous
Contemporary: We aim
to be a place and a people that are relevant to the world and the community in
which we live. 1 Chron 12:32
Community: We want to be a
Heartbeat: A healthy heartbeat
means that we have a healthy heart. The Bible says that the heart is the
wellspring of life. As a Community church we want to be a strong heartbeat in
our Community. A church filled with life. Proverbs 4:23
Where God is famous, we
want to be a place where people, both within and outside the church, can see,
hear and experience what great things God is doing.
To achieve this, we need to have an outward focus to reach
those without faith, both within the community and across the nations. It is
our vision, prayer and heart’s desire that God would be made famous and that we
would be a strong heartbeat in our community, where people will come to find
real life in our time and in our generation. We are committed to doing all we
can to enable this to be a reality in Millom and beyond. Habakkuk 3:1-3.
